The Kalamazoo River played a major role in the history of Albion. When settlers arrived in the 1830’s, they referred to the area as “The Forks” because the east and south branches of the Kalamazoo River converge there, in what is today Reiger Park.
Fun Fact
You can still travel both the Kalamazoo River and the Mill Race through the center of town via a small boat.
