The engine house was built in 1877 to house the steam pumper engine and to give a permanent location for the volunteer fire brigade to assemble when the fire alarm was sounded. This building, with its fully restored, historic front, is also home to Homer’s own 1887 Burton Steamer Engine, a rare piece of fire fighter’s history.
Fun Fact
Homer’s 1887 Burton Steamer Engine is one of only two left in the world.
